Janet Quist

Janet was Playmate of the Month for December 1978. Her pictorial was titled Texas Drifter.

Janet was born on Aug. 17, 1955, in Austin, TX. She attended Travis High School in Austin.

She was one of the few Playmates who had acted in a handful of films prior to becoming a centerfold. She had uncredited bit roles in the movies “A Small Town in Texas,” “Outlaw Blues,” “Rolling Thunder” and “Semi-Tough.”

Late in 1976, Playboy announced a Playmate Photo Contest. Of 11 winning entries published, only Janet became a Playmate. She lived at Playboy Mansion West for six months. Janet was paid $10,000 for the centerfold job, then toured the country for the magazine for two years, getting $500 a day for travel expenses, according to an article in the Austin Statesman newspaper.

Janet married at least twice and had four children. She later earned a degree in cosmetology. She lived in San Diego, CA, for 28 years before returning to Texas in 2014.

As of 2016, Janet was living in a small Texas town, was working for a jewelry company in South Austin and was taking nursing classes at Austin Community College, according to the Austin Statesman. She had previously worked at MD Anderson cancer center, taking care of monkeys used in research.
